    Plaquenil and gerd

It says on the bottle I can’t take an antacid for at least four hours after taking the Plaquenil. I hate heart burn:( I take a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) essentially antacid in the morning that is supposed to last all day. I would ask your pharmacist first and see if it matters whether it is just a 'tums' or medication strength. I think if it keeps happening I’ll go talk to my pharmacist to see what they recommend. Has anyone else experienced heartburn while taking Plaquenil and if so what did you do to avoid or ease the heartburn? If they are not able to give you an answer your Family Dr or Rheumatoid will know. Fortunately the heartburn goes away after a few hours, but those few hours are very uncomfortable!

Aug 02, 2010 plaquenil, pain, nausea/vomiting, gerd, ulcer. Ive been os this med for 6 weeks and have had increasing nausea, acid relux and epigastrc pain. I have had esoogeal ulcers in the past and im also on mobic. Added Mobic is also a arthritis drug, ive taken that for years without side effect im more concerned about an answer about the plaquenel. Jan 30, 2018 Is Hydroxychloroquine helpful for GERD? can Hydroxychloroquine cause GERD? Hydroxychloroquine is mentioned in 1 posts about GERD. Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine is an older DMARD used to treat certain rheumatic conditions. There are possible side effects and even side benefits. Apr 10, 2019 Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine belongs to a group of medicines called quinolines. Plaquenil is used to treat or prevent malaria, a disease caused by parasites that enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. Malaria is common in areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia.

But that's just the optimum way to take it, not the necessity. Sometimes what is suggested (no antacid for 4 hours) is not necessarily required if it means you can't or don't want to take your plaquenil anymore. the antacid will affect the absorption of the plaquenil and the amount your body can absorb.

It might be a bit of heartburn or gastritis. Make sure though to wait 2 hrs before and 2hrs after taking the plaquenil to take an antacid. Watch that sun. I find I feel worse when I've had too much of it. I'm prone to itching like crazy after too much sun. Are you using a broad spectrum sunscreen and UV protective clothing hat too? Hi everyone. I posted here a few days ago because I was about to start taking Plaquenil. So far it’s been okay, no major side effects. Except today I started having some heartburn after taking it. It says on the bottle I can’t take an antacid for at least four hours after taking the Plaquenil. We study how severe was Gastroesophageal reflux disease, when it was recovered, drug effectiveness, race, and more among people who take Plaquenil. This study is created by eHealthMe based on reports of 1,993 people who have side effects when taking Plaquenil from sources other than FDA, and is updated regularly.
