I've been on plaquenil for over 6 years, then last year i got a letter saying that i needed to have a full blood count done every 3 months as I was on a DMARD drug, the plaquenil, as it can effect your blood. They also do a blood test to check my liver and kidneys too. I take methotrexate injections weekly along with antibotic thereaphy of 200 mg of minocycline. Last week my doc added plaquenil to the mix. I have a pharmacist friend that says it can take up to a year to work, but once its kicks in it can be really good. I suggest you ask your rhuemie for additional help in the meantime. May 23, 2016 In summary, if you have Sjögren’s, hydroxychloroquine may be an option to help your symptoms.
